Chapter 17

“So much like your mother.” He sighed. “When she joined the family, she had a laundry list of demands, and even more after you were born. I swear omega submissiveness is a myth that only the foolhardy believe in.”

“Is there anything else?” Josh tried to end the conversation.

He had no desire to walk down memory lane when it came to his mother. His memories were the only thing that remained of her, and he guarded them like a jealous child. The mother he knew at home was nothing like the pathetic woman who bowed and scraped for the good of the pack, even going so far as to offer up her body as an outlet for their frustration and anger. There was a good reason why Bryce called Josh a bastard: no one knew who his father was. Given his mother’s preferred method of keeping the peace, it could have been any one of a dozen men in the family. No one asked because no one wanted to know.
