When Josh didn’t say anything, she started to get up. “What are you doing?” He grabbed her arm.


“How are you going to know if he’s interested if you don’t talk to him?”


The tighter he tried to grab her, the quicker she slipped from his grip until she was on her feet and walking away. He watched in horror as she headed toward the rangers. Fortunately for him, their radio squawked. He was too far away to hear what was being said, but the new ranger headed out of the diner before Andrea had reached them.


Josh let out a breath of relief, until he saw Andrea dragging Ned back to their table.


“Ned’s got the scoop on the new guy,” she said.


Ned looked as bewildered as Josh felt. He was quickly learning that when Andrea got an idea in her head there was no stopping her, and Ned’s kind smile had only encouraged her.


“Did your cousins put you up to this?” Ned eyes narrowed to match his serious tone.
