All the conflicting emotions only served to wind the coil tighter but it wouldn’t release. He remained bound to his human form.
“Josh!” Andrea screamed.
He looked over to see her fighting toward him, only to have one of the rogues lock onto her ankle. As she fell, the glaive made an arch of silver that decapitated the rogue that had caught her. Immediately she was set upon by the other.
“Andrea, no!” Josh felt his arms give way.17
Just before the rogue could sink its teeth into Josh’s neck, it was knocked away from him by a blur of fur and fangs. Gavin’s presence was unmistakable, even in wolf form; Josh felt his body react to his nearness.
The rogue rolled away as Josh scrambled to his feet and ran toward Andrea. He threw all of his weight against the rogue that had her pinned, but couldn’t budge him an inch. Punching and clawing, Josh’s fingers found the soft orbs of the rogue’s eyes. The rogue let out a deafening howl as Josh dug in.
