I gasped with mock horror. “Vegetables are my life.”

“And I respect that. I’m sorry. I’ll learn to love them.” Finn tried to look over my shoulder. “What else you got in there?”

“A choice of couscous or russet potatoes.”

“Russet sounds like Russel.” Finn brought out his fourth grade voice again.

“Yes. And that is a brilliant observation, Finneus, because we also have mussels, and Black Angus steak. Get it?”

“Surf and turf.”

“Mussels and black angus steak. Ang-us.”

The light bulb went off over Finn’s head. “Ohhhhh. Awwwww. Now, I love asparagus and Brussels sprouts.” I got a squeeze as he tried to peek at what was left in one of the bags. “But, um, please tell me there was something at the bakery with u and s in the nameIs the plural of tiramisu tiramisuseses?”
