“You’re a wonder,” I whispered in Alexa’s ear as I hugged her. “Would you consider marrying me?”

She gave me a broad grin, then pinched my cheek. “Aren’t you already married, you handsome devil, you?”

I was. I’d finally found the woman I’d been unconsciously searching for all my life.

I glanced toward the front of the chapel where Dante’s mother sat, wearing the rose gold mother of the groom gown embellished with beads and sequins. She was alone for the moment, although I’d join her before the ceremony began. Her brother had been invited but had written a stiffly worded response declining the opportunity to attend his nephew’s nuptials.

Dante insisted on keeping it and had it framed. He hung it on the wall in the study Micajah had given him and from time to time threw spitballs at it.
