Chapter 19

Jason hadn’t really felt insecure. He’d say so, and it’d be true. He trusted Colby; he trusted Laurie, the epitome of English theatrical gentleman.

He kind of wished he’d at some point attempted some Shakespeare, though. Especially when Leo, who also was not required to be on set that day, had wandered by and shouted, “Ah, but love may transform me to an oyster!” and both Colby and Laurie had cracked up at what must’ve been some sort of Elizabethan joke.

Jason couldn’t be envious. That sickly makeup was a lie; Colby was sitting up, laughing, trading lines with Laurie. Jason would watch far worse, would endure far worse, if that meant Colby was feeling okay enough to laugh.

Colby wouldbe okay. Maybe with some help—and, God, he hoped that suggestion’d helped; Colby hadn’t seemed upset at the mention of talking to someone—or maybe not; that’d be up to Colby.

Well. Maybe Jason’s hands could help too. He hoped so. He thought so.
