Chapter 48

Colby fell in love. “It’s beautiful. Oh, Jason, it’s beautiful.”

“Beautiful,” Jason agreed, looking at him and not the inn.

“Oh, honestly…no, I’m not disagreeing, but this isn’t about me. Look at the windows. Those front steps. That stonework…is that seventeenth century? That style of—are we staying here?”

“We are.” Jason spun the Aston Martin into the drive with some extra flourish. Colby threw him a smile and then went back to adoring communion with impressive gable-points. Jason got out, came around, and actually opened the door for him. “It used to be an inn. I mean a real working one. People’d come for the Sheep Fair, apparently, and they’d stay here. It’s renovated and everything, obviously.”

“Oh…that explains the name. The fleece. And the river.” He grabbed Jason’s hand and did not let go. “Can I explore? I imagine there’re so many stories…everything those walls’ve seen. Over centuries.”
