“Even knowing what I know now, I could never have put Kitty in a foster home and if I took her out to New Mexico, she would have been all alone and confused when I went to away games. But I could have finished school when I came home if I didn’t feel so guilty that I left them strapped for cash. I could have played soccer for Monmouth. They offered me a scholarship, too. But my parents wanted me to go away. Now I know why,” Jason said in reflection. Then a thought occurred to him, “Should we move away so she never finds out?”
“I don’t think you should do that, unless you want to leave. Remember, I can work anywhere so if you want to go, we go. However, all this time passed and no one told you. Not even Mrs. Schwartz and Bobby and they were your greatest support system. And Kitty is comfortable here with people she knows and trusts.”
Jason was thoughtful.
