Jason Monroe has to leave school to be the guardian of his sister Kitty when his dad and step-mom die in a car crash. He's working two jobs to keep them afloat, but their boat is leaking, much like the roof of their old house. “That’s what happens when you wake up a sleeping bear. Unless there’s something wrong, Princess, knock on the door before you come into our room.”


Kitty looked at Jason and him suspiciously. “Are you two going to be kissing?”


“Yes, we’re going to be kissing, a lot.” Zach laughed and gave Jason a hug. He turned to Kitty. “Come on up here for your morning cuddle.” Kitty crawled up to the top of the blanket and both Jason and Zach gave her a group hug.


“Princess, I think Eloise is hungry. Remember the bin I bought for the dry food.”


“Yes, Poppa.” Kitty was jumping on the bed.


“Take the little scoop inside the bin and give Eloise one scoop. Wash out her water dish and give Eloise fresh water. We’ll be down to make breakfast in a minute.”


Zach slid back down beside Jason. “Good morning, baby.”
