Chapter 59

“Write all of this down as you tell it to us so you don’t have to do it twice,” Jack told Mark.

“You didn’t press charges for the assault?” Carlo asked.

“No, I was too afraid. What would have happened to me if he didn’t get convicted? But they got him on the robbery. You have to understand. Billy is a sociopath who had borderline personality disorder and he’s not getting treatment. That makes him very dangerous.”

Carlo nodded his head.

“What happened next?” Jack asked. Mark’s head was in his hands. He looked up and continued to speak.

He was supposed to serve twenty years.” Mark was beginning to sound frustrated and angry. He figured it was better than sounding like a victim.

“And then…” Jack persisted.
