Now he had to make arrangements for a storage unit and see that his family was on board. He dialed his mama. Phina was intensely curious about Gray, having met Genevieve. He told her Gray meant something to him and he didn’t want to scare him off. She promised to talk to her sisters-in-law and have them speak to their sons. Phina’s, along with Carlo’s warnings, should be enough to keep them from asking intrusive questions. 9

Enzo sat and entertained Genevieve until it appeared as if she was getting tired. By that time, Gray was up and getting ready to go to work, so he joined him in the kitchen. “Mama brought over a chicken casserole that we’re going to have for dinner. Eat some now and have something on your break later, you’re too thin. You can’t let yourself get sick when your mother needs you.”

“Okay.” Gray sat down at the kitchen table and obediently ate the casserole. “This is excellent.”
