Chapter 62

“I have blood relatives. My grandma cried when I called. I asked if you could come with me and they said yes. They don’t hate gay people. Grandma said her brother was gay. Can we go there for coffee tomorrow at ten? If we can’t, I said I’d call her.” From the happiness Enzo read in Gray’s eyes, he decided that he would walk over broken glass to make his baby feel that way again.

“Of course we’ll go. We’ll even stop at Caputo’s for some pastry to bring with us.” Enzo pulled Gray into his arms. “You may not have been able to count on many people in your life, but the Del Montes don’t run. You can depend on me to stay by your side no matter what.”

Gray perused his face. “You mean that, don’t you? Even though my father was a criminal and my mother woefully stupid, you mean that.” Gray scooted closer to him on the couch.
