Their sexual relationship had ended a long time ago, yet Mineau seemed to think they’d eventually resume that part, even after all of the conversations they’d had about it never happening. Mineau had helped him get back on his feet two years ago, but he’d also taken advantage of Harris, leading him into his bed in a time when he’d only needed solace. A father figure. He’d wanted Mineau to comfort him but had ended up sleeping with him in spite of their huge age difference.

He’d taken his gifts. His money.

Harris promised himself he’d hire a trademark or intellectual property lawyer as soon as he had the money, so as to make certain his brand was well-protected and Mineau didn’t mess with his company out of revenge.

“You didn’t have to buy me a suit, Jean,” he said, trying not to sound too short. “I’d already picked out some clothes for that night.”
