Jude hadn’t known who Charon was when he’d been booked by him. He’d walked into his elegant home and Charon had been quick to draw him into his luxurious bedroom full of incredible Turkish black lacquered furniture. Then Jude had spotted the Erebus flask on the dresser and asked where Charon had gotten it. When Charon had come clean, Jude had stormed out of his home.

Now he stood up and flew to his sneakers. “Be a good girl!” he shouted running through the front door.

Had he lost a chance with the only man who’d ever treated him right?

Standing above his worktable, Harris sipped his cognac, staring blankly at the bottles and blotters scattered across the station.

He brought the short glass to his mouth again and caught the woody amber scent of his drink. Bitter almonds and oak. A great combination. He made a few notes on the scent in his black book, ignoring his phone, which kept ringing and ringing.
