“So, your dog—Chimera is it?” He’d start with the little things first. “Isn’t that the name of Cerberus’s sister?”
“Yeah…Cerberus, the three-headed dog, guard of the Underworld.”
“You know a lot about Greek mythology.”
Jude stirred the cereal around in his bowl. He’d already eaten all of the strawberries. “I’ve always been interested in the subject. I read Homer and Virgil when I was thirteen and most of the Greek plays.”
“Is that why you chose Olympus?”
Jude looked up at him. There was a hint of apprehension on his face. “Not exactly,” he said after a moment.
“So…how does it work?”
“Harris.” Jude cleared his throat and straightened in his seat. “Can I use your shower?”
“I’m curious. There’s no judgment here.” Harris touched Jude’s hand over the table. “Okay?”
Jude stared at him for a second. “Okay,” he finally said. “I just—I hate talking about what I do. I hate it.”
