Chapter 21

Since Brian was the only one of his friends who worked at home, he thought he might be available to go with him. He dialed the number. “Hello, this is Brian,” was the quick response.

“Brian, Danny.” Danny fed Leo some kitty treats. “Would you like to go to the mall with me? I want to get Gary a robe and slippers.” Danny began to make a list.

“Save the robe and slippers for the winter. What you need to get him are sweats, t-shirts and sleep pants. It’s too hot for a robe.”

“That does sound like a better idea.”

“Junior and I will be over to pick you up in fifteen minutes.”

“I didn’t want you to bother Junior. I was going to drive.” Danny checked the house to make sure he left no windows open and that the garage and back doors were locked.

“Papa hasn’t given me permission to drive with you yet and he worries.”

“But you drive with Jim all the time,” Danny said.
