He watched as Caden came rushing to the dining room in his grey leathers and Masato smiled. Then he thought about the money and his face shuttered. Johnny presented himself to Caden. Caden took him by the hands and brought him up to eye level. “Sit at the banquette with me. I want your company tonight.”

“Should I eat, Sir?” Johnny asked, knowing that a bulging stomach was not the way to start a scene.

Masato whispered, “Okay.”

“I hear you had your first experience with the sub club yesterday. I hope they didn’t pester you too much. My brother can be a bit possessive. Would you like some iced tea or water?”

“Water please.” The waiter brought out a large bowl of salad and tossed it in front of them. He served first Caden, then Masato. A pitcher appeared and their water glasses were filled.

Johnny said, “Jim’s trained them well.”
