“What about you, Gallo?” Anicka’s head turned a fraction, softening her sharp profile. Though he thought her the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, her features were not perfect. Her nose was too long and slightly aquiline, her chin a tad too pointed. The luscious mouth, however, balanced them out, especially when it was soft and encouraging him to play along. “Think I can count on you to fill in for Espen if some skin merchant gets cranky?”
“All Gallo has to do is look at ‘em to get ‘em to empty their pockets.” Espen laughed.
When Ares didn’t rise to Espen’s bait right away, Anicka swung her leg to nudge against his thigh. He should be used to the incidental contact by now, but when it came to Anicka, every touch seemed significant. He never knew which one would be the last, or depending on how optimistic he was, the first of newfound lives together. “Might be fun to see you try.”
