Mr. Stevens took out his calculator. “You were entitled to a benefit of approximately two thousand dollars a month. The Social Security Administration’s office will calculate it exactly. The benefit ran up until the time you left high school. You left the house at fifteen, that’s about three years’ worth of benefits or approximately seventy-two thousand dollars.”
“Seventy-two thousand dollars?” Robbie’s eyes were like saucers.
“Since your parents planned their estate, there was probably insurance money plus retirement savings in a 401K, maybe even a pension and a brokerage account. I would suggest you have your investigator and your lawyer check into that for you.” Robbie looked at Danny, then Gary and finally to Tom and mouthed a silent thank you.
