Chapter 12

Before Oliver’s unwelcome intrusion on their night, Dane had been having a wonderful time. He always had a wonderful time with Guy, but this was different. In spite of his best intentions, it had felt like more of a date. And Dane couldn’t deny the fact that he missed dating Guy. He missed the clever, affectionate, sweet, smiling Guy that he had seen over dinner.

But Dane knew he couldn’t indulge in more pseudo-dates. When he began this job, he understood that boundaries were necessary for his own good. He had promised himself he wouldn’t cross any lines, but in the back of his mind, he believed Guy would dislike him, if not hate him. He never thought Guy would be attracted to him, or that Guy would talk about the possibility of dating, or that Guy would want to spend real, personal time with him.
