There was a locker area in the corner, a little place where the various balls and mats were kept. It had the double doors that opened up into the main sports hall. The door was open and there was a whimpering from behind the boxes. Trying not to hurry, Nick made his way over there. He checked his back once more before stepping into the storage area
Kathy. She was here. Curled up in the corner, her wrists bound behind her back and her head down, her hair falling over her face. There was a cut on her leg and it was bleeding, dripping onto the ground. Nick tucked his weapon into his jeans and hurried over.
“Kathy! Thank God!” He fell to his knife, fumbling for his knife in his pocket. “It’s Nicky. I’m here. I’m going to get you out of here.”
“What?” Kathy looked up, and Nick saw the dazed expression in her eyes. “Nick? What…what are you doing here?”
“What do you think?” Nick snapped through the restraints with his knife. “I’ve come to take you home.”
