Chapter 13

Xander was the one who sounded breathless when they parted, though he cradled the back of Aaron’s head and kept him as close as possible. “So no regrets?” he asked softly.

“No.” Aaron sighed, his lips brushing against Xander’s. “No regrets. Unless you count the fact that I almost let you stay on that couch all night.”

“You couldn’t know,” Xander reiterated. “Though now I feel like asking if you’re going to make me stay at the hotel the rest of the time I’m in town.”

“Are you kidding? We’re going to stop by there when our shift ends and pick up your stuff.”

“And if anybody gives you a hard time about it, just say it’s old friends reconnecting.”

Aaron nodded. He hadn’t thought about anybody giving them a hard time—though he should have. He was just too wrapped up in the reality of being in Xander’s arms. He didn’t want to deal with other realities. Like their fellow firefighters giving them a hard time. Or the fact that Xander lived two thousand miles away.
