Chapter 15

So far, so good. In fact, it was even better than he’d thought it would be.

“I owe you an apology for last night,” Xander said. “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have made so many comments about getting you a girlfriend.”

Aaron shrugged. “It’s okay. I mean, I did excuse myself because it was making me a bit uncomfortable, but I know you didn’t mean anything by it. It’s just that every time I see my mom or Eddie or anybody else, the first thing they ask about is whether or not I have a girlfriend. Then they start making suggestions.”

“Do you go out just to get them off your back?”

“No. I don’t go out with girls. It’s not fair to anybody.”

“Do you have anybody you just get to be yourself with?” He was really curious about the answer to this. Xander suspected, after Eddie’s reaction to his coming out, that the response meant Aaron needed this date more than he’d realized.

“Not really, no. Not here in Cedar City. I have some friends I chat with online, and that helps.”
