Justin gave him a sad smile. “Not necessary, but thank you.”
Before Rafe had the chance to say another word, Justin was gone. 2
Over the past month Justin had gotten into the habit of stopping at Rafe’s Tavern at least three times a week for dinner. The food was hearty and not overpriced and Rafe made good company. After what happened last year he had few friends and no family left that wanted anything to do with him, so having somewhere to go and someone to talk to was precious to Justin.
Rafe knew he was saving to buy the shop he managed from his boss. He knew a lot about him, everything except what happened last year. He really liked Justin, but Rafe didn’t pry.
