Chapter 31

“It might, if we’re right. Did you know Stryker personally?” Mike asked.

“Met him a couple of times, yeah. He worked under…” Brody frowned. “It’s been a long time. Tanner. Cal Tanner.”

“He knew Stryker—sort of. He worked for someone named Cal Tanner,” Sage told Mike.

Mike smiled slowly. “That bastard I know. I busted him about a year ago for attempted murder. He got life, with a chance of parole after fifteen years. I think I need to have a long talk with him.”

“What good would it do,” Brody asked. “He’s got nothing to gain by admitting he set Stryker on me—if he did.”

When Sage repeated that, Mike replied, “All I need to do is get him to verify it was Stryker who killed you, Brody. If he’s smart, he’ll do that without implicating himself in the process. It’ll take some fast talking on my part, but I think I can make it happen.”

“He’s going to want to know why you’re interested after all this time,” Sage said.
