“Pictures of werewolves for a costume?” the librarian asked when he finally got to her desk and had explained what he was looking for. “Well, there are some books about fantastic creatures but maybe you’d better check the Internet,” the librarian said. Henry liked the middle-aged woman who always seemed to have a cup of coffee in one hand. She had helped him before.

“The Internet? I don’t know, that sounds sort of scary, and don’t you have to be a subscriber to that, even here?”

She nodded. “That’s right, even here you need to be a subscriber. But, thanks to the First Lady and to the Buffet family, we did get a Sunlight grant for one free hour a week for those in need,” she said, making air quotes. “You look in need, c’mon. And it’s not scary. You’re just asking a question.”
