“We’re almost there. Henry, you go down to your place, get clothes for the two of you. Jamey, can you walk?”


“If you can, come help me collect my stuff and anything else we can grab in the next ten minutes, no more than that. Here we are. Jump out the minute I stop the car.”


Dr. Melloy turned between two big cedars into her circular driveway and pulled the car to a sudden stop right at the front steps of her house. She hastily got out of the car and headed up the steps to the front door. Henry scrambled out after her, with Jamey right behind him. Henry turned to help Jamey, who took one step, put all his weight on his right ankle and quickly sat back down in the car,
