Sirens. Screams. Car doors opening and slamming shut. People yelling, running.
Jamey was stunned. These monsters were visible. These monsters, which had to have been sent by the Watchers, were visibleto humans. That moment was all a green imp needed. It slashed at Jamey’s face, ripping his flesh from right ear to right jaw. Warm blood filled Jamey’s eye as he swung his sword, this time connecting with the last creature that came out of the sky, one more demon, this one like a small dragon, as flames singed Henry’s fur.
Jamey cut its head off in mid-flame.
“Put down your sword. NOW.”
Behind Jamey, at the gate from the street into the garden, stood a Cornish policeman with his gun drawn.
The yellow imp jumped on the wolf’s back as it slapped the raven into the fence.
Jamey slashed straight over the wolf’s head, slicing off the imp’s forked tail and half a wing.
