The Siamese yowled.
“We’re hurrying,” Dr. Melloy said to the cat. “Oh, you’re right. That way.” Dr. Melloy pointed with her staff beyond the Starbucks to what had to be the main entrance.
“Will you guys stop fussing?” Bonnie muttered over her shoulder to the small dog and the other two cats in the papoose on her back. “Can you deactivate the alarm before it goes off?”
“I’m not going to,” Dr. M answered as they walked past the portrait of the U.S. President and the signs outlining the laws that limited public access to the library. ““By the time the campus police get here we will be long gone and any distraction will slow down the Watchers.”
