Jamey was to emerge from the dressing room and wait by the pool, while his family came to stand with him. He would answer the questions that would assure everyone he had truly repented, then he would step into the pool. More prayers by Pastor Carl, with call-and-response with the congregation, and Jamey would be dunked three times in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to loud hallelujahs. After the baptism, he would change back into regular clothes, come back and sit with his family for the sermon (in which he would play a prominent role), sit through the rest of the service, and after all that, Jamey, his family and the congregation would enjoy the big feast waiting in the fellowship hall. He would be the star of that, too.


Last night he had dreamed of Henry again.
