Chapter 6

“Tonight was wonderful, honey,” Morgan said, and I lay against her shoulder with her arm around me.

“What do you think the future is going to be like? What do you wish?”

“Do you mean what I really think will happen?”

“Tell me, if could have any future you wanted, what would it look like?”

“The coronavirus will go away without us all having to have some kind of suspicious, freaky vaccine. There will be actual police reform across the country. Schools will teach real history. The whole fucking world will change.”

I held Morgan tighter and kissed her lips.

“I hope that happens, I really do.”

“You know what else I’d like to do? Sing and play guitar for people. Maybe once the bars open back up and they start hiring live music again, I’ll go play once in a while. That would be fun.”

“Cool, Morgan. You’re really good. I bet the Jamestown tavern would love to hire you. Too bad I’m still too young to go in and watch you play.”

“Oh yeah.” She chuckled. “Poor Rae.”
