“I put a baby in her, I did. Andi says she’s pregnant with a half ghost, half angel baby. She knew right away. She said angels do.”
I looked to Delphine and mouthed, “Is that even a thing?”
A nearly imperceptible nod told me yes.
“I’m going to be a right excellent dad, one who plays with his kid all the time.”
One would likely argue there was more to being a dad than that. Raised as I was, I would disagree. Time, togetherness, to me, those were most important. Andi would teach CJ the rest.
“It can be done,” Delphine said. “It is not a simple incantation or even a spell, but more of a prayer, a request.”
While she and Gamila set the stage, CJ said his goodbyes.
We hugged, all of us, CJ and I, CJ and Liu, CJ and Pansy, and then I went back for another. “Hey, CJ,” I whispered conspiratorially. “When you get to Heaven…Angel Land…wherever, do me a favor.”
“Anything, mate.”
“Send me a message of some sort. Try. Keep in touch.”
“Like Jefferson and Goose.”
