Chapter 35

I raised my shirt and sniffed, but although I had an excellent sense of smell, couldn’t scent anything. Might it be a parent thing? Your mother is going to have a fit when she realizes what we’ve been doing.”

“Nah. The master suite has its own bath. You worry too much, you know that, Day-O?”

I grabbed the Knowlton High sweatshirt he had put on and dragged him up on his toes until we were chest to chest. “You know I don’t care for that name?”

Totally unafraid, he wrapped one arm around my neck, ran his palm over my jaw, and kissed me. “Yeah, I know.” Just then the doorbell chimed. “That’ll be dinner.”

I was tempted to deepen the kiss, but set him on his feet and released him instead, then followed him to the door.
