There was still a problem, though. I’d become bored with all the pretty girls. I saw how cool and relaxed my brother was courting young men, and I thought why the hell not? I’d give it a try as well. It wasn’t as if I had anything planned with my life just then. Even my dreams about the boy—a young man now—who swam in the lake had stopped about four months or so ago.

“Drew…” The concern in Papa’s voice brought me back to the present.

“I don’t blame Dad, Papa. It’s that damned destiny thing.” I shook off the feeling of melancholy. “I’ll truly enjoy spending time with the two of you. So will Robin.” My younger brother had gone in on the purchase of this townhouse with me, although I could have afforded it on my own. I glanced at the clock on the wall. “Robin should be home from work soon.”

“How has Robin been?”
