I jerked back. “You’re not serious.” His pupils expanded until only a slim rainbow ring remained. “You are serious.”

“I am.”

I stared up into his eyes, completely taken aback. The vision he’d shared with me was of a compactly built figure a combination of reptilian and humanoid in appearance, with what appeared to be either gray-green scales or feathers, an elongated skull, huge feet out of proportion to its body size, and a stubby tail.

“But how can it have a baby? I’m assuming it’s the only one of its kind here on Terra?”

“It is. Its parent was chief engineer on Dev’o’s Honor—Dad’s ship.”

“Makes sense,” I muttered to myself. “He’d need a way to get them here from wherever they came from.”
