Chapter 12

“I don’t think that will be necessary, Mr Irving,” he replied. “I believe Mr Thorne would like to apologize to you.”

Chin lifting, Dalton met Mr Price’s gaze in surprise. He never expected an apology. From Robert Thorne, especially. From anyone, really. This apology could always be the result of coercion and the threat of disinheritance, but Mr Price seemed genuine enough. And though Robert might not get along with his brother the way Dalton had with William, Dalton had no reason to suspect he’d make such a threat. There was love there—one who expressed such affection through order and logic, the other through passion and emotion.

Someone with as much zest and energy as Robert had was bound to fill to the brim eventually. And without any way to make room for more, a little spill every now and then had to be expected. A little spill could always be mopped up again.
