“It’s a mutually advantageous match, to be sure,” he replied, honestly and with a slight shrug. “The age-old perfect match, as they say.” Edward looked back to James. “Status marrying fortune.”
This earned him a frown and a little furrow between emerald eyes. At least Edward could always say his opinion really did count somewhere. And not just because he was a duke.
“You don’t approve.”
James did not ask it because it wasn’t a question. And he was mostly right. Mostly. While Edward did approve of the thought behind James’s intentions, he did have his concerns. None of which truly mattered. Instead of answering, Edward took a sip of his drink.
“Why do you disapprove?” James asked. “Do you think young Mr Irving is a poor choice for Robert?”
