Robert begged. Robert moaned and begged and pleaded, as Anthony slowly opened him up and stretched him and took all the time in the world, unhurried about it. Robert did not move, being entirely a willing captive; his eyes were delighted, laughing, fearless.

And Anthony, fingers caressing Robert Thorne’s body, listening to Robert’s tumbled babbling of words, all yesand pleaseand moreand Anthony’s name, thought suddenly that this must be what a happy ending might feel like. Everything he had not dreamed of having. A marriage-vow, and a promise.

A man who knew him, who knew all his secrets and all his identities and all his desires, and who gloried in those right along with him.
