Chapter 12

Will: Are you there?

Will: Where should we meet?

Will: Quincy?

There it was a twenty-minute gap before he’d written again.

Will: Are you okay?

Will: Quincy, can you at least send a message saying you’re okay? I’m beginning to worry here.

Another twenty-minute gap.

Will: I went through your friends list, but I don’t know who to contact. Please tell me you’re okay.

Will: Okay, I’ve changed out of my good clothes, and I’ll start painting my kitchen cupboards, but I have the phone with me. Let me know the minute you can that you’re safe.

A thirty-minute gap followed.

Will: Quincy? I’m getting really worried here. I’m gonna call some hospitals, but I don’t know your social security number, so I doubt they’ll give me any information.

Twenty-five minutes later.
