Chapter 41

“Don’t get in that cab. Wherever you’re going, don’t. Come back to the arena with me.”

“Uh…why are you so emotionally invested in where I go for lunch, Shrimpy? Oh, and, um, why the hell did you just kiss me like that?”

“Because I love you.”

“Whoa!” Apparently, Ben’s words made the Stoker-stroker-seen-’round-the-world-wide-web happy. He started laughing.

“Adam…”

And continued to, for an annoyingly long time.

“I got your note, Adam.”

The cheerful—truthfully grating—kind of chuckling continued.

“Your…your love note,” Ben said.

Or was it the ironic kind of laughter, as things got even more fucked up?

“We can be together now.”

Maybe it was the kind when someone had just made a total fool of himself.

“What’s in your hand?”

“Nothing.” Adam curled his fist tighter.

“Are you going to punch me for kissing you?”

“Don’t be a stupid ass.”

Stupid ass.Ben thought that was exactly what he was. “Show me.”

“It’s nothing. The coins. See?”
