Chapter 17

“Want to tell me what you’re freaking out about?” Dylan asked quietly when our meal was almost finished.

I took the time to eat the last few bites of my sandwich before I answered. “I dunno.” Which was a lie. I released a breath and forced myself to look him in the eye. “Embarrassment mostly. All those things I said to you last night.”

Dylan shook his head, but there was a fondness in his expression that made me smile, too. He stood and kissed the side of my head as he grabbed the paper plates. He tossed them into the trash, then came back to me, grabbed my chin, and lifted my face until he was staring into my eyes.
