Before I could follow, Dylan gathered me in his arms and looked me straight in the eye. “You got the job?’

“I did at that.” I couldn’t help the pride in my voice.

“Oh, baby!” He kissed me hard and fast, then let out a whoop. “I’m so proud of you. And so happy! That’s awesome.”

I couldn’t stop grinning. Now that the cat was out of the bag, I wanted to tell them everything. The thought gave me pause. For the longest time, the only one I really cared about sharing news with was Hayley. When had Dylan ranked that high?

I thought back over the last few months. Hell, over the last couple of years. Even though I’d insisted we couldn’t be best friends because of our age difference, he’d wormed his way in there anyway. And now he was my boyfriend. Of course I’d want to share all the news with him, good and bad.

Something must have shown on my face, because Dylan cupped my cheek and tilted my face to his. His expression conveyed his concern. “You okay? Where’d you go just now?”
