“Don’t wait for an invite,” she snapped.

“R-Right,” Sumire stammered, and quickly turned to her tengu. “Little sisters, try psycho crusher again.”

“Crog, pincer attack,” Alaina said blankly.

The leviathan cried out from its varied mouths, the force of the psychic and physical attacks proving too much for it. It bowed its heads in defeat, breathing heavily—and, abruptly, from behind them, there came the pop of a something exploding outwards, and before it could resist, a net had ensnared the creature, holding it in place as five squat meows passed them, each with a different coloured armband; blue, red, green, yellow, pink.

In alarm the group turned, and Poppy felt a chill run down her spine at the sight of her grandfather, Doc Labyrinth, his face wrought in an expression of distaste, two scientists in white lab coats next to him, a younger man with sandy hair, and a shrewd looking woman with dark hair and glasses.
