The door opened, and he saw his granddaughter smiling weakly at him as she approached.

“I shall be back on site shortly,” he said, “please inform reception that I will be bringing a guest.” 26

“How did you get this?” Sumire asked, wide eyed as she looked at the cards spread out on the table. “No, maybe don’t tell me, I’m not sure I want to know.”

“It’s a trade secret, anyhow,” Lilith smiled in return, standing behind them, her hands on her hips.

Eirian reached out and picked the first card up from the small table, the view outside their window showing the distant forest and Rivulet Hill beyond.

“These look like those special meows they were using, the ones with the armbands,” they said, picking up several more cards. “This one’s red, this one’s blue, this one’s yellow.”
