Chapter 27

“It won’t change anything. Not for me. Not for…not for my poor mother.”

Catrina nodded. “I know, but justice must be carried out.”

Benjamin was swamped by a wave of tiredness out of nowhere. “Okay. I think enough about my past for the time being. Why are you here?”

Catrina was quiet for a moment, and Benjamin had a bad feeling about it. “You have two souls to guide.”

Benjamin sighed. “Recent deaths?”

“A few hours ago.”

“Names?”

“John and Johannes.”

Benjamin raised his eyebrows at Catrina. “Isn’t Johannes the same as John? I mean, Johannes is the Medieval Latin form of John.”

“Yeah, but these are two different people.”

“Where are their souls?”

“In a prison,” Catrina replied before she snapped her fingers.

In the next second, Benjamin was holding two black pieces of papers. He was shocked right down to his core.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
