“Fine. Do what you want,” his mother eventually said with a loud huff. “Just don’t expect any inheritance from your father and me.”

Eric laughed upon hearing that. “Mother, I started my restaurant from scratch on my own. I used up what little savings I had, and I borrowed some money from the bank. You and father didn’t provide me with a single cent back then because I was that shameful gay son that you both didn’t want to acknowledge the existence of. Guess what? I’m doing just fine without your and father’s money. I’ve stopped thinking since many years ago that I’ll ever receive anything from either of you. Now, is there anything else you want to talk about? If not, I’ll leave you alone. Besides, I have a restaurant to run.”
