I closed the door quietly behind me. Drew stood far enough away he wouldn’t have overheard my conversation with St John. “You’re home.” He looked tired, but I couldn’t help wrapping my arms around him and holding on tight. “You’re home.”

“I am.”

“Are you all right? Is Da’?”

“We’re fine.”

“And Malossini?”

“He’s…not fine.”

“Good.” If I hadn’t been so wrapped in my beautiful boy, I’d have sulked because Drew hadn’t asked me to go with him. “Did you get to meet Da”s fathers?”

“And his sibling and his sibling’s offspring as well.”

“Sorry?”

He swallowed a grin. “I’ll tell you about my stay in Brazil another time. Right now I must ask about you and St John. You’re all right?”

“We’re fine,” I echoed his earlier words. “I’ve missed you, but…I didn’t expect you back so soon.”

He cocked his head. “You needed me.”

“I apologise. I should have guarded my thoughts more carefully.”

“Arse. Never mind about that. What can I do to help?”
