Chapter 84

“Flying is so cool,” George said on their journey home. “Wish I could fly.”

Troy hid his grin. However, there was no grin, hidden or otherwise, when Troy spoke with George’s grandmother. Seems she and Trudy, George’s mother, decided not to tell George about being a sotan because the knowledge would give him ideas and make him even more difficult to handle.

Troy bristled. George wasn’t difficult to handle. Yes, he was a typical young boy, curious, full of questions and energy. Troy didn’t see anything wrong with that. Ultimately; Troy knew George wasn’t his responsibility and Trudy had a right to raise her son as she saw fit.

“Will you take me next week, too?” George asked, grabbing onto Troy’s cape before Troy could leave.

Troy glanced at the grandmother, who, after their brief conversation in the kitchen, had parked herself in front of the TV and seemingly was ignoring her grandson. “You’ll have to get permission from your mother or grandmother.”
