I laughed. “Yeah. Mom talked me into it. Rudolph’s nose lights up if you push the button.”
Jolly smirked. “Where’s the button?”
“Nowhere naughty, you perve. It’s just his nose.” I pushed the red nose on my chest and the light came on.
“You could even say it glows,” Jolly cracked.
“Wise guy, huh. Mom bought it so I felt obligated.”
“You’re adorable in it. Honestly.”
Suddenly, my mom appeared, tapping Jolly on his shoulder. “Let me have a moment with my son.”
Jolly acquiesced immediately and with good nature, then walked to where Jonathan and Ben were talking to a man dressed as Santa.
“Thank you for this,” Mom said.
“Me? It was Jolly.”
“I know. But you could have said ‘no’ or not have invited us. Whatever. I know I…sort of pushed you at Jolly.”
“Sort of, yes.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You are?” I was skeptical.
