Cashel cleared his throat. “Sebastian has spent too much time abroad. Thank you for indulging his curiosity.”
“Not at all.” Todd nodded his head.
“Come, Sebastian.” Cashel nudged his horse on. “There are other sights for you to see.”
“Good day to you!” I waved farewell.
“Stop that,” Cashel muttered, as our horses trotted away. “You shouldn’t behave like that.”
“Hm? Why ever not?” Glancing over my shoulder, I saw Todd and his sons wave back, honest smiles on their faces. “See? They like to wave at us.”
“It’s not how a noble behaves,” Cashel said, though his tone told me he was already resigned to whatever dreadful mistake I’d committed.
“My dear human,” I said quietly. “I think these people would happily dote on you, ifyou gave them the chance.”
The blush returned to his face, and he gripped his reins hard. “I-I don’t want that.”
